Deliveries of the system, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, are planned to begin in 2027.
The procurement, valued at approximately SEK 7 billion ($729 million), will be financed under the Total Defence Bill 2025–2030.
The HIMARS systems to be procured will provide the Swedish Armed Forces with a long-range precision-strike capability.
The HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a highly mobile multiple rocket launcher system designed to provide long-range precision fire support.
The system can engage targets at ranges of approximately 70 kilometres with GMLRS guided rockets and up to 300 kilometres with ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles.
