The Raytheon-Rafael Area Protection Systems (R2S) facility is the first outside Israel to produce Tamir interceptors.
Developed by Israel-based Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the Tamir is the interceptor used in the Iron Dome air defense system.
It is designed to counter aerial threats such as short-range rockets, mortar rounds, artillery shells, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Equipped with a command data link and an active radar seeker, the Tamir can detect and track its target in flight.
Its fragmentation warhead destroys the target in the air, and within Iron Dome the interceptor is used against threats launched from distances of 4 to 70 kilometers…
