Greece Agrees $4 Billion Missile and Modernization Program with U.S.

Greece’s Ministry of National Defence announced that it has reached an agreement with the United States for the procurement of $4 billion in air and land systems…

The $4 billion in funding will cover missiles and precision-guided munitions, F-16 modernization, logistics support for the existing fighter fleet, and sustainment and support for helicopters.

About $1.2 billion is earmarked for missiles and precision-guided munitions for the Hellenic Air Force’s current F-16s and for the 20 F-35s it is set to begin receiving in 2029.

Greece will provide $1 billion to upgrade 37 F-16 Block 50 fighters to the Viper standard. Greece, which fields 83 F-16 Vipers, aims to complete the modernization by the end of 2027.

A further $800 million to $850 million is set aside for logistics and sustainment support for the existing F-16s.

Another $750 million will fund follow-on support for the Hellenic Navy’s MH-60 helicopters and for the Black Hawks, with deliveries starting in 2027…
