France Orders 4 Additional SAMP/T NG Air Defense Systems

France’s Ministry of the Armed Forces has announced an order for four additional SAMP/T NG air defense systems…

With the new order, the total number of systems planned to enter service has risen to 12.

Under the program, the number of systems scheduled for delivery by 2030 has increased from eight to 10, while the overall procurement target of 12 systems by 2035 is maintained.

Developed by EUROSAM, a joint venture between MBDA and Thales, the SAMP/T NG uses ASTER 30B1NT interceptors.

The system can intercept aerial targets, including aircraft and hypersonic missiles, at ranges of up to 150 km and altitudes of up to 25,000 meters.

The French configuration features a GF300 radar with a range of 350 km, carries 48 ready-to-fire ASTER 30B1NT missiles and can engage up to 100 targets.

France is also developing an integration of the VL MICA short-range air defense missile into the SAMP/T NG system.

The integration is intended to provide a more comprehensive defense capability against aerial threats at different ranges…
