Under the Pattugliatore Polivalente d’Altura (PPA) program, Italy aims to renew the Minerva- and Lupo-class warships that entered service in the 1970s.
Designed for a wide range of missions, from patrol duties up to front-line combat roles, the PPA class offers considerable operational flexibility.
Measuring 143 meters in length and 17 meters in beam, Thaon di Revel-class ships can deploy 2 helicopters and various rigid-hulled inflatable boats (RHIBs).
