The agreement covers four next-generation submarines currently under construction for the Italian Navy at the Muggiano Integrated Shipyard.
The contract incorporates new technological capabilities through the integration of countermeasure systems developed by WASS.
Under the revised agreement, the delivery of the program’s fourth submarine has been brought forward by two years, from 2034 to 2032.
The Italian Navy is scheduled to receive one U212 NFS submarine annually beginning in 2029.
The U212 NFS program represents a significant evolution over the U212A class, featuring a more mature design, a higher level of domestic technological content, and greater integration of onboard systems.
