The contract covers the production and delivery of 3 MQ-25A Stingray platforms under Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) Lot 1, while also providing for advance procurement of long-lead-time components for the 3 platforms to be produced under LRIP Lot 2.
Work on the MQ-25A Stingray platform, covering both LRIP lots, is expected to be completed by 2031.
The MQ-25A Stingray is the first operational carrier-based unmanned aircraft developed by the U.S. Navy to operate from aircraft carriers.
Designed primarily for aerial refueling, the platform is intended to extend the combat radius and time on station of aircraft such as the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, and F-35C Lightning II.
As a secondary mission, the Stingray system is planned to leverage its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.
Featuring folding wings for compatibility with carrier operations, the Stingray is operated together with the Unmanned Carrier Aviation Mission Control System (UMCS) for autonomous flight and mission execution.
