Within the scope of the program, the HMS Härnösand corvette was transferred to Karlskrona SAAB shipyard for modernization works.
With the modernization program, the operational capabilities and combat activities of the platforms will be maintained until 2040.
Within the scope of modernization, new generation sensor systems will be integrated into the platforms, systems that have completed their technological life will be replaced and 9-cell VLS system will be used to increase air defense capability. CAMM (Common Anti-air Modular Missile) air defense missiles will be deployed.
In addition, Visby-class corvettes will be reinforced with RBS-15 Mk.4 Gungnir anti-ship missiles, while 400 mm SLWT (Saab Lightweight Torpedo) light torpedoes will be equipped to strengthen underwater warfare capabilities.
The platforms, which are built with a composite hull structure based on the low visibility (stealth) concept, offer a cruising range of 2,500 nautical miles.
