Germany to Develop High-Energy Laser Weapon by 2029!

Germany has announced that it has signed a contract with Rheinmetall–MBDA to develop an operational high-energy laser weapon system for the German Navy…

The system, which is planned to be inducted into the inventory in 2029, is expected to significantly enhance the German Navy’s defensive and engagement capabilities against air, sea, and land-based threats, primarily unmanned aerial vehicles.

The program is built upon laser technology that has already performed over 1,000 successful test firings in comprehensive land and maritime environment trials.

The new system to be developed will incorporate the entire engagement chain—from target detection and tracking to laser engagement—within a single integrated structure.

The contract covers not only the development of the laser component but also the creation of a full-scale weapon system to be deployed on naval platforms.

Rheinmetall and MBDA will develop an integrated combat solution that encompasses all reconnaissance, target detection, target tracking, and engagement processes.

The system will be developed and designed based on the operational requirements of the German Navy…
