U.S. Navy Signs Contract for Construction of Next-Generation Landing Ships!

The US Navy has announced that it has signed a contract with TOTE Services for the construction of next-generation landing ships…

Under the $2.2 billion contract, TOTE will serve as the Vessel Construction Manager (VCM) for a program of up to 8 Medium Landing Ships (LSM).

The Medium Landing Ship design is based on the LST-100 platform developed by Damen.

The platform, which has a displacement of approximately 4,000 tons, is designed to have an operational range of 4,000 nautical miles (7,408 kilometers).

Construction of the first platform will be carried out by Bollinger Shipyards, while an additional 4 platforms will be built at the Wisconsin-based Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard.

TOTE Services will determine which shipyards will construct the remaining 3 platforms based on operational and industrial requirements.

Construction of the first platform is scheduled to begin within one year, with delivery planned for 2029…
