The five-year contract includes an additional two-year option period and covers accelerated production and expanded capacity.
A multi-mission guided missile used aboard the U.S. Navy’s Aegis warships, the SM-6 can be employed in air defense, surface warfare, and terminal-phase ballistic missile defense roles.
The missile can engage fighter aircraft, cruise missiles, and surface targets, and can also intercept short- and medium-range ballistic missiles in the terminal phase.
Its propulsion system consists of a solid-fuel Mk 72 rocket booster and an Mk 104 dual-thrust rocket motor…
