Latvia is considering the A-29 Super Tucano primarily for air defense missions against UAVs and slow-moving aerial targets.

The aircraft is intended to perform UAV detection, tracking, and neutralization missions, intercept slow-moving targets, and conduct light attack operations when required.

Equipped with advanced sensors and AI-enabled systems, the platform is expected to serve as a cost-effective air defense asset against unmanned threats.

The A-29 Super Tucano is a two-seat light attack aircraft with a wingspan of 11.38 meters, a length of 11.14 meters, and a height of 3.97 meters. It is powered by a 1,600-shp Pratt & Whitney PT6A-68C turboprop engine.

The aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight of 5,400 kg and can carry various munitions on five external hardpoints, with an external payload capacity of 1,550 kg.
