France-based Naval Group has unveiled its SCX26 destroyer concept, offering a vision of a future-generation warship…
The platform is expected to measure approximately 170 meters in length, 24 meters in beam and have a displacement of 8,000–10,000 tonnes.
Its design incorporates technologies intended for potential deployment in the 2040s.
The SCX26 is designed to carry Aster air defense missiles and MdCN cruise missiles through 96 vertical launch system (VLS) cells.
The concept also features future weapon technologies, including 57 mm guns, 100 kW laser weapon systems and an electromagnetic railgun.
The SCX26 will feature a dedicated mission bay for the deployment, maintenance and preparation of unmanned aerial, surface and underwater vehicles.

Powered by a CODLAG propulsion system, the SCX26 is expected to reach a maximum speed of 30 knots and a range of 8,000 nautical miles.
The concept is intended to incorporate an AI-supported combat management system, advanced sensors and network-centric warfare capabilities.
However, it remains a conceptual design rather than an active shipbuilding or procurement programme….
