Peru to Equip F-16 Block 70 with Viper Shield EW System!

Peru has announced that it has selected L3Harris Technologies Viper Shield electronic warfare (EW) system for its F-16 Block 70 fighter aircraft

Peru is acquiring 12 F-16 fighter aircraft under a deal worth approximately $1.5 billion, while planning to expand its total F-16 fleet to 24 aircraft.

Peru currently operates 12 Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft, along with Russian MiG-29 and Su-25 fighters, most of which are non-operational or held in reserve.

Viper Shield provides a digital layer of protection around the aircraft, enabling pilots to counter enemy radars, missiles, and other electronic threats.

Viper Shield is a fully digital electronic warfare system developed by L3Harris to protect F-16 fighter aircraft against modern radar and electronic threats.

Designated AN/ALQ-254(V)1, the system combines a digital radar warning receiver with radio-frequency memory-based jamming to detect, identify, and counter threats.
