The missile, to be developed by South Korea, will be procured under a program spanning 2028-2039, with a total cost projected at 1.63 trillion South Korean won ($1.15 billion).
Development work is planned to be carried out from 2028 to 2033, with series production expected to begin around 2034.
The missile is expected to be deployed on various naval platforms, most notably the future KDDX-I and KDDX-II class destroyers.
The new anti-ship missile (AShM) is intended to substantially extend the surface-strike range compared to the Haeseong (SSM-700K C-Star) anti-ship missile currently in service with the Republic of Korea Navy.
The missile’s range is expected to roughly double the Haeseong’s estimated 150-180 kilometer range, reaching approximately 300-360 kilometers.
