Sweden Signs €4.3B Contract for Four FDI Frigates!

Sweden announced that it has signed a €4.3 billion contract with France to purchase four French FDI frigates (Luleå class)

The first of the frigates to be built for the Swedish Navy is scheduled for delivery in 2030.

The FDI frigates to be operated by the Swedish Navy will be equipped with advanced sensor systems, Aster 30 missiles, and CAMM-ER missiles.

The FDI will provide the Swedish Navy with layered air defense against modern aerial threats, ranging from dense drone swarms to high-speed ballistic missiles.

The FDI-class frigates have a displacement of approximately 4,500 tons, a length of 122 meters, and a beam of 17.7 meters.

The frigates can reach a maximum speed of 27 knots (50 km/h) and feature four fixed-panel SeaFire AESA radar panels providing 360-degree coverage, hull-mounted and variable-depth sonar systems, and digital electronic warfare systems.
