U.S. Navy Signs Contract for AN/SLQ-32(V)6 Electronic Warfare Suite

The U.S. Navy announced that it has signed a $209 million contract modification with Lockheed Martin for production of the AN/SLQ-32(V)6 electronic warfare system, which warns surface ships of incoming anti-ship missiles and the radars guiding them…

If the options included in the modification are exercised, the contract’s cumulative value will reach approximately $1.7 billion.

Work on the AN/SLQ-32(V)6 under the contract is planned to continue through 2029.

The AN/SLQ-32(V)6 detects, identifies, and determines the direction of radar and radio signals emitted by enemy ships, aircraft, and missiles.

It features new antennas, an advanced receiver, an open interface with the ship’s combat system, and a high-sensitivity sensor with improved ability to detect weak signals.

The system is designed to strengthen defense against anti-ship missile threats, make it harder for the ship to be targeted and tracked, and give the crew a comprehensive picture of surrounding electromagnetic emissions…
