Baykar has transformed its Bayraktar TB2 armed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) into an airborne carrier platform for FPV attack drones…
The TB2 was equipped with a total of 16 Skydagger FPV kamikaze drones, eight mounted under each wing.
The Bayraktar TB2 successfully struck a designated target with FPV kamikaze drones developed by Skydagger.
The TB2 also served as a communications relay platform for operators controlling the Skydagger FPV drones.
Operators guided the FPV drones towards their targets using the data link relayed through the TB2.
FPV drones, which normally have an operational range of approximately 15 kilometers, could be deployed over distances of thousands of kilometers by carrying them aboard the TB2 and relaying their control signals through the aircraft.
Developed by Baykar, the Bayraktar TB2 is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV).
The platform has a wingspan of 12 meters, a length of 6.5 meters and a maximum takeoff weight of 700 kilograms. It is powered by a 100-horsepower internal combustion engine and can remain airborne for more than 20 hours.
The TB2 can operate at altitudes of up to 16,000 feet, with a service ceiling of 22,000 feet. It has a cruising speed of 90 knots and a maximum speed of 110 knots.
With a payload capacity of 150 kilograms, the UCAV can be equipped with electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) cameras, a laser designator, surveillance radar and laser-, INS/GPS- or infrared-guided munitions.
It can operate using both line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) communications capabilities…
