The Romanian Army is scheduled to receive the first GM200 MM/A radar in 2027.
The agreement for the procurement of 12 Thales Ground Master 200 MM/A radars is valued at 247 million euros.
These systems will be integrated into Romania’s national defense network to enhance airspace surveillance, improve early warning capabilities, and strengthen the ability to detect and respond to emerging aerial threats.
The GM200 MM/A is a combat-proven, medium-range 4D active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar that has already been deployed in active conflict zones.
The radar can detect and track various air targets—ranging from low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles to high-altitude aircraft and missiles—at ranges of up to 350 kilometers.
Utilizing advanced software-defined technology, the system provides high-precision target detection and tracking capabilities against emerging threats.
