Lockheed Martin has announced that the proposed Flight II variant of Spain’s F-110 Bonifaz-class frigates would enhance the ships engagement capabilities against aircraft and missiles…
The F-110 frigates, built by Navantia, are equipped with Lockheed Martin’s AN/SPY-7(V)2 radar and the Aegis Combat System.
The new variant is intended to retain the existing F-110 class’s digital architecture and its anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare capabilities.
Lockheed Martin says the SPY-7 radar’s modular architecture allows its capacity to be increased by adding new modules without requiring a redesign of the system.
Using polarization diversity technology, the radar can detect and distinguish between complex threats.
The radar is also expected to support defense missions against ballistic and hypersonic missiles…
