The Sentinel radars, provided free of charge, will enhance the operational effectiveness of Lithuania’s NASAMS air defense systems.
Developed by Raytheon, the MPQ-64F1 Sentinel is a highly mobile, multi-functional, X-band 3D radar system that provides 360-degree surveillance. It is capable of detecting, identifying, and tracking targets at ranges of up to 120 kilometers.
Utilizing advanced pencil-beam technology and a computer-controlled architecture, the MPQ-64F1 Sentinel provides NASAMS with precise three-dimensional target data, including azimuth, altitude, and range information.
The rotating radar features track-while-scan capability, allowing it to search for new aerial threats while simultaneously tracking over 60 targets.
NASAMS is a short-to-medium-range, ground-based air defense system jointly developed by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Raytheon.
