The Department has signed a seven-year framework agreement with L3Harris and Lockheed Martin to scale up manufacturing.
Under this agreement, L3Harris will accelerate production of advanced dual-pulse solid rocket motors, attitude control motors, and the Lethality Enhancer.
These motors provide the high speed, extended range, and precision maneuverability required by the PAC-3 MSE interceptor to neutralize advanced tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and enemy aircraft.
Simultaneously, a separate agreement between the Department of War, L3Harris, and Lockheed Martin will increase production capacity for critical THAAD interceptor propulsion components.
These components include the solid rocket booster motor that launches the interceptor and the highly responsive Liquid Divert and Attitude Control System (LDACS).
