TEPE (TF-2000)-Class Air Defense Destroyers Will Be Equipped With 96-Cell VLS!

The TEPE (TF-2000)-class air defense destroyers, being built under ASFAT’s prime contractor leadership, will be equipped with a 96-cell Vertical Launch System (VLS), it has been announced…

Construction of the first vessel is currently underway at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard.

The VLS architecture will comprise 32 tactical-length cells and 64 strike-length cells, allowing the destroyers to simultaneously carry 32 air defense missiles and 64 cruise missiles.

The TEPE class is designed as a multi-role combat platform capable of conducting both long-range strike missions and integrated air defense operations.

The destroyers will measure 149 meters in length, with a 21.3-meter beam and a 5.75-meter draft.

A combined diesel and gas turbine (CODAG) propulsion system will enable the vessels to reach a maximum speed of more than 26 knots, with a cruising speed of approximately 17–18 knots.

The air defense suite will integrate long-range SİPER missiles and the HİSAR missile family, along with other interceptors, providing layered protection against aerial targets at different ranges and altitudes.

Offensive capabilities will include ATMACA anti-ship missiles and GEZGİN land-attack cruise missiles, supported by a 127 mm main gun for surface engagement and naval gunfire support.

Anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities will include sonar and torpedo systems, while point defense will be provided by systems such as the GÖKDENİZ Close-In Weapon System (CIWS).

The TF-2000 combat system will be centered around phased-array radar technology, enabling the detection, identification, and tracking of multiple air and surface targets at long ranges.

Integrated electronic warfare, sonar arrays, and command-and-control (C2) systems will provide a comprehensive tactical picture of the operational environment.

Beyond its onboard sensor suite, the platform is designed to function as a combat network node, sharing data with other naval units and land-based systems within the task group…
