The U.S. Department of State announced that it has approved a Foreign Military Sale to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System-II (APKWS-II) guidance kits and related equipment at an estimated cost of $1.041 billion…
The UAE has requested the purchase of up to 10,000 APKWS-II guidance sections in a combination of air-to-air and air-to-ground configurations.
The procurement package also includes Mk 152 high-explosive warheads, MK66 rocket motors, proximity fuzes, WTU-1/B warheads, and inert MK66 rocket motors.
The principal contractor is BAE Systems, and no known offset agreement has been proposed in connection with this sale. Any offset agreement would be defined in negotiations between the purchaser and the contractor.
A semi-active laser guidance system integrated into 70 mm Hydra 2.75-inch rockets, the APKWS-II converts the rocket into a precision-guided munition.
